CORPUS CHRISTI, TX. - First In Rescue, Safety and Training or F.I.R.S.T, a safety services company based in Deer Park, Texas, conducted high angle rescue and confined space rescue training for the Houston Fire Department Technical Rescue Team on board the USS Lexington Aircraft Carrier (Ret.) docked in Corpus Christi, Texas. Logan Reininger, Director of Operations for F.I.R.S.T described the training. "We wanted to give the HFD Rescue Team a challenging venue for their training and decide on the USS Lexington. It gives many different scenarios for high angle rescue, repelling and confined space rescue that you can't find at the standard fire department training field. This makes the rescuer have to think out of the box and become more creative when in an emergency situation and some ones life is in the balance. We repelled off the top of the ship, conducted numerous confined space entries, pick-offs and lowers with live patients in the stokes baskets."

Blast Environmental and Industrial Services, Inc. - Yellowstone River Oil Spill Response

At approximately 11 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, a break occurred in a 12-inch pipeline under the Yellowstone River 20 miles upstream from Billings, Montana. The ruptured pipeline is owned by ExxonMobil Pipeline Company. According to the company, an estimated 1,000 barrels of oil entered the river before the pipeline was closed. EPA is leading the response in close coordination with the state of Montana and other federal agencies.

CleanCo offers Fixed Shell Tube Heat Exchanger Chemical Cleaning

HOUSTON, TX - The Ethyl Corporation, Houston facility, recently contracted with CleanCo Systems Industrial Service Company to perform Chemical Cleaning on two of the facilities fixed shell tube heat exchangers. Tim Green, General Manager of CleanCo Systems and project supervisor explains, “The fixed tube exchanger presents a challenge for cleaning the shell side of the exchanger. The tubes are permanently welded in the shell or casing and in order to clean the surfaces of contaminates, fouling and oil or grease we utilize our chemical cleaning system and specialized equipment.”

Texas City Dike Oil Spill Response Efforts

TEXAS CITY — Cleanup continues along the southern shores of the Texas City Dike after a weekend oil spill that sent about 2,500 gallons of fuel oil into the water.

While most of the oil that spilled from a Buffalo Marine Service barge Friday night had been removed from the water, crews have yet to get all of the oil off the rocks that line the first mile of the dike where much of the oil washed up.
